Observing Development-Cognitive Development
Cognitive development of young children is concerned with how their thinking abilities evolve. We are only beginning to understand how this takes place. However, because of the work of Jean Piaget, we have more understanding of how young children understands their world and insights on how children think. Adding to Piaget’s research Lev Vygotsky has increased our practice in early childhood education to truly begin to ask the questions and dive deeper into understand how thinking develops in young children. This course reviews how we observe cognitive development in children to support learning. This course is a part of our Observing Young Children Track.
